have you tried the setting the brightness and contrast on the menu.

the wife thinks its the bulb too, but i was thinking if it was the bulb it would have just blown all together not got darker, unless there is like a high and low beam so to speak like 2 different fillaments maybe, i have no idea... im totally reaching here
ya the brightness is maxed and the contrast is prolly 3/4, pretty much where they have always been |

tv is prolly 3 years old, the bulb is only maybe a year old if that. i did just buy the cheapest bulb i could find which was off ebay though...
